Barcelona New Years

The flight back from Tokyo was also very smooth, with a day and night layover in Istanbul again. I was hoping to go exploring for a few hours this time, but since the shuttle bus got bomb-checked at the security gates to the hotel, I decided not to. Plus when I turned on the news the Kurds were rioting so I stayed in the hotel and drank beer. I had a few days back in Berlin to rest, then to Hamburg for Christmas and Barcelona for New Years.

Barcelona was nice. Nothing too incredibly noteworthy except the Gaudy stuff. The Sagrada Familia church was pretty impressive from the outside but a waste of 12eur for the entrance fee. There is nothing inside as they are still doing construction. You can take a lift to the top---for an extra 3 eur. So you wait in line for an hour or so to get into the church then its another hour or so just to get in an elevator. Some of the Gaudy buildings
One day we rented a car and drove about 2 hours to the little sea town of Cadaques, right on the border of Spain and France. This is where Dali lived and worked. The rental company was Sixt (a German company) so when I started talking to the girl in German, we got upgraded to BMW. The Dali Museum
